In a move signaling a new chapter for its brand, Google has unveiled a refreshed version of its iconic ‘G’ logo.
This update marks the first major change since 2015, when Google’s logo was revamped with a sleek, modern typeface called Product Sans.
The most noticeable shift in this new design is the transformation of the ‘G’ icon, which now features a more fluid, vibrant gradient.
Unlike the previous version, which had distinct, solid color blocks, the new ‘G’ logo smoothly blends from red to yellow, yellow to green, and green to blue.
This gradient effect brings a fresh, dynamic feel to the design, making it more engaging and colorful.
The update aligns with Google’s ongoing emphasis on modernizing its brand and is reminiscent of the Gemini gradient and the AI Mode used in Google Search shortcuts.

As of yesterday, iOS users have already started seeing the new icon with an update to the Google Search app, while Android users received it in the latest Google app beta update (version 16.18).
While the change is subtle, it gives the iconic logo a more contemporary and lively appearance, especially noticeable for those who engage with the Google app regularly.
This update raises the question: Will Google expand this gradient design to other product icons? While there is no word on updates to other logos, it’s easy to imagine similar changes for products like Google Maps or Chrome, where a seamless color transition could fit perfectly.
