Zohaib Khan recognized as Pride of Pakistan

Muhammad Zohaib Khan, the former chairman of Pakistan’s IT industry association P@SHA, has been recognized as the Pride of Pakistan for his services to the country’s IT industry. His announcement was made on the eve of 78th Independence Day Celebrations at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad.

Muhammad Zohaib Khan was the only P@SHA Chairman and one of a few businessmen from the IT industry who were given the recognition. He has been associated with the IT industry for over two decades and has represented Pakistan at various global platforms in different capacities, receiving numerous titles for his dedication and service to the nation.

During his tenure as the chairman, the country achieved the highest-ever export earnings of over $3.2 billion in FY24. Pakistan hosted the APICTA Awards for the first time in 2023 for regional economies. He led the IT industry to achieve various milestones, such as IT export awards, tax incentives at the federal and provincial levels, 50% retention of foreign exchange facilities in bank accounts, and the formation of Tech Destination Pakistan in collaboration with policymakers and a private bank. He revamped the secretariat of P@SHA and its research and development unit.

Zohaib also led various Pakistani IT companies to expand their presence in different countries, including those in the GCC and Europe.

At present, he is playing an active role in the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), aiming to enhance IT exports to a record $10 billion within the next few years. He has been serving as the brand ambassador of Tech Destination Pakistan since the inception of the campaign.

Commenting on the occasion, the former P@SHA Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan said, “Pakistan’s IT industry has the potential to play its role as a game-changer for the nation and national economy with a consistent increase in exports and digital transformation in governance and other sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, and banking.” I thank our beloved Pakistan and its IT industry at the core of my heart, which gave me the opportunity to work for development and progress.”

The celebration ceremony of Marka-e-Haq was attended by Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Chiefs of Armed Forces, diplomats and other dignitaries. Several other personalities were also recognized as pride of Pakistan for their services in different field.
