Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 is Somehow Just as Durable as Z Fold 7 [Durability Test]

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip7 has officially faced its first durability test, courtesy of JerryRigEverything, following the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s recent trial. The key question this year is whether the thinner 2025 flip phone can withstand the same level of stress as its predecessor, the Z Flip 6, which survived last year’s bend test.

    Scratch Resistance and Glass Durability

The outer cover display and back panel of the Z Flip 7 use Gorilla Glass Victus 2, showing light scratches at Mohs hardness level 6 and deeper marks at level 7. The results are no surprise given it’s a regular glass screen.

The inner folding display remains more vulnerable. Like previous foldable models, it can be scratched by softer objects due to its flexible nature. Just like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the inner screen can be scratched by fingernails or any objects on a scale of 2-3 or above on Moh’s hardness level.

    Dust Proofing

The Galaxy Z Flip7 maintains an IP48 rating, which provides water resistance and protection against larger dust particles, roughly 1mm in size. In the test, some fine dust and debris managed to enter the hinge, producing slight grinding noises during movement, but the device continued functioning normally.

    Bend Test Results

Despite a slimmer design, the Z Flip 7 successfully passed the bend test. When force was applied in the opposite direction of its fold, the phone withstood the stress without structural failure.
