Governor Sindh Inaugurates KTPL Season 4

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori inaugurated Karachi Tape-Ball Premier League (KTPL) Season four that kicked off at the prestigious DHA Sports Club Moin Khan Academy on Saturday night.

“The KTPL will help discover fresh talent and give opportunities to those who don’t get chances to play such events at this level. I fully support this event,” said the governor while speaking at the opening ceremony.

He added that the whole words knows that Pakistan is the country of Javed Miandad, Haroon Rasheed, Sadiq Muhammad and other legends, and I was happy to have them behind KTPL.

The governor, who is also patron in-chief of this league, said that the city of Karachi will witness this beautiful activity and this was the reason he owned a team Karachi Knights in this league.

“The message of such events is that we all should work together for the prosperity of this city and Pakistan,” said the governor.

Speaking on the occasion, legendary cricketer Javed Miandad said tapeball cricket is getting popular as everyone can play this and it is as good as hard ball cricket.

“Practice with tape ball can help players in hard ball cricket. I suggest professional cricketers to make their own strategy to achieve results on the field,” said Miandad.

Chairman KTPL Zohair Naseer announced on the occasion that the league would be played at national level in the next edition with the teams representing different cities of the country.

“I was sure that tape ball cricket would be structured through this league and it has happened now. This league has brought street cricketers to stadiums, which was our primary goal,” said Zohair.

He added that the KTPL was first organised and structured at Karachi level and now it would be played at national and then international level in the coming years.

Former cricketer Haroon Rasheed emphasised the importance of sports in fostering unity and providing opportunities for young talent.

The opening ceremony was a spectacular display of excitement, featuring the defending champions Clifton Popular, proudly organized by Pakistan Tape-Ball Foundation and Badar Expo Solutions.

The inaugural match witnessed an intense showdown with a thrilling display of skill and excitement, igniting the fervor for what promises to be an exhilarating season.

This year’s KTPL Season boasts a diverse lineup of teams, including defending champions Clifton Popular, DHA Dabanggs, Johar Jawaans, Gulshan Gohar, Lyari Legends, Malir Malangs, North Nawabs, and Karachi Knights.

The matches are scheduled to take place from December 14-29 at Moin Khan Academy and will be broadcast live on GEO Sports. The entry is free for all cricket enthusiasts and families.
