    APTMA Elections: Dr Gohar Ejaz Group secures record 16th straight win

    Dr Gohar Ejaz Group scores historic 16th consecutive win in APTMA elections, sweeps all nominated seats unopposed.

    The APTMA Election Commission has declared Dr Gohar Ejaz Group’s candidates as unopposed winners for the North and South Zone Executive Committees after scrutiny as per the election schedule for 2024-26, marking a decisive victory for the group.

    The textile industry has experienced remarkable growth over the past 15 years, with exports increasing by over $210 billion during 2010 to 2024. Dr Gohar Ejaz, the leader of APTMA, the industry’s supreme body, has been at the helm of this success, which has seen textile exports rise from $10 billion in 2009-10 to $16.5 billion in 2023-24, with a record high of $19 billion achieved in 2021-22. It led to exponential growth in the textile industry capacity to $25 billion under TERF. However, the industry was forced to operate at 65 percent capacity due to change in energy prices and taxation regime of sales tax in 2022.

    Under Dr Gohar Ejaz’s fearless leadership, Pakistan’s textile industry has witnessed a remarkable transformation, with a new breed of entrepreneurs rising to the challenge and doubling the country’s exports. His unwavering commitment and pioneering spirit have made him a legend in the industry, cementing his status as the champion of Pakistan’s textile industry.

    Dr Gohar Ejaz’s tireless efforts to boost Pakistan’s exports and industry were acknowledged by the federal caretaker government, which appointed him as the Federal Minister of Commerce in August 2023. His exceptional leadership skills were further recognized by entrusting him with the additional responsibility of Federal Minister of Interior. Dr Ejaz discharged both responsibilities with utmost dedication and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of the business community across the country.

    Today, not only the textile industry but the entire business community across Pakistan regards Dr Gohar Ejaz as their saviour. As the head of the Economic Think Tank of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), he is championing the cause of industries nationwide. With a bold vision to propel Pakistan’s exports to $100 billion by 2030, Dr Ejaz is poised to leave a lasting impact on the nation’s economic landscape.

    Dr Gohar Ejaz has recently sparked a national movement against the exploitative electricity supply through IPPs by the country’s powerful elite, seeking justice for the masses. He has called on the government to investigate IPPs’ financial dealings and revise their contracts to ensure transparency and fairness. His petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan has added momentum to the campaign.

    Meanwhile, the APTMA Election Commission has released the list of successful candidates from the North Zone, which includes prominent figures from the textile industry. The winners are: Mr Amer Fayyaz, Dr Gohar Ejaz, Mr Khawaja Muhammad Yunus, Mr Adil Bashir, Mr Kamran Arshad, Mr Amer Naseem Sheikh, Mian Muhammad Alamgir Jameel Khan, Mr Naveed Gulzar, Mr Shehzad Ahmed Sheikh, Mr Danish Qaiser Monoo, Mr Siddique Javed Bhatti, Mr Habib Anwar Sheikh, Mr Amer Abdullah, and Mr Muhammad Haris.

    Similarly, those from the South Zone elected unopposed include prominent figures from the textile industry, such as Mr Muhammad Jameel Qasim, Mr Khurram Inam, Mr Rafique Ibrahim, Mr Shoaib Dewan, Mr Muhammad Faizullah, Mr Asad R Premji, Mr Khalid Majid, Mr Khurram Ashfaq, Mr Adeel Tata, and Mr Mahfooz Ahmed Bajwa.

    APTMA transformation from yarn and fabric representative body to complete value chain is visible in the composition of the executive body, which is being represented by CEOs of largest denim garments , home textiles, knits, towel, dyed fabrics, cotton yarn and synthetic textiles companies, the leadership of Dr Gohar Ejaz has Created an everlasting impact on APTMA as the apex body representing all segments of textiles value chain.

    Dr Gohar Ejaz has hailed the newly elected members on their unprecedented 16th consecutive win in the APTMA elections, covering both North and South zones. He hopes that the new leadership will actively contribute to bolstering the country’s exports and collaborate with the government to create a conducive business environment in this respect.
